Mediaworks, one of the largest media enterprises in Hungary was established on 1 October 2014. The Austrian company Vienna Capital Partners (VCP) is the owner of Mediaworks, which acquired a majority stake in the Hungarian subsidiaries of Ringier and Axel Springer following approval by the Competition Authority.
With over sixty media brands, Mediaworks and its subsidiaries offer national and regional coverage for its partners. With its widely known and popular dailies, Nemzeti Sport, Népszabadság, Világgazdaság, eight regional dailies, women's and gastro magazine portfolio, digital media products and over 700 employees, the group which is expected to generate a turnover of over 15 billion HUF became Hungary's leading media company the moment it was established. The company also owns the most state-of-the-art newspaper printing press in Hungary, the Mediaworks Printing Press and is also the majority shareholder of the distribution company Medialog Plc. The company works around the clock from journalism to printing and distribution through to digital media services.
The slogan of Mediaworks: "Content first" expresses that the company believes and invests in content and believes that this is the cornerstone of any media enterprise.
