The dynamically changing Népszabadság keeps getting stronger. As of 9 May 2016 Baksa Roland joined the Politics and Economics section of Hungary’s leading newspaper. The 38-year-old journalist, with a degree in economics, worked as the head of section of hvg.hu before joining Népszabadság.

The new section editor of Népszabadság started his career in 2004 at Világgazdaság. He went to work for Index in 2007, where he was elected Best Journalist of the Year in 2010. Between 2011 and 2014 he worked for Origo, specializing on taxes, budgetary issues, politics, the central bank and the pension system. He wrote several important, informative, investigative articles about important issues (VAT fraud and corruption scandal, IMF negotiations, suspicious deals of the Hungarian National Bank).

“To strengthen the position of Népszabadság, and to keep developing and improving both the print and online version of the newsletter, it is indispensable to recruit highly qualified journalists who are experts in several areas and can respond to challenges of this new digital era. The recruitment of Roland is a logical step in this process, and I am convinced that he will be a strong pillar of Népszabadság, a modern leading newsletter that respects traditional values” – said Editor-in-Chief of Népszabadság Murányi András.
