Following the agreement between Mediaworks Hungary Zrt. (Mediaworks) as buyer and Ost Holding GmbH as seller, today Mediaworks submitted its application to the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) for purchasing Pannon Lapok Társasága Kiadói Kft. (PLT).
PLT is a group of companies employing 500 people, with operations in four Transdanubian counties (Fejér, Vas, Veszprém, Zala), generating revenue of about 9 billion. It publishes four county newspapers – Fejér Megyei Hírlap, Napló, Vas Népe, Zalai Hírlap – as well as Dunaújvárosi Hírlap, the local daily of Dunaújváros, and it also operates local digital media channels.
Mediaworks, the owner of Nemzeti Sport, Népszabadság, Világgazdaság, eight county dailies, a portfolio of women’s and gastro magazines as well as digital media products has annual sales in excess of 16 billion forints and employs a staff of almost 650.
The acquisition of PLT requires approval by the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) and GVH. The purchase price is not disclosed.
