András Murányi, editor–in-chief of Népeszabadság appointed the daily’s deputy editors-in-chief Péter N. Nagy, Péter Pető and Márton Gergely.

András Murányi, who was appointed editor-in-chief by Mediaworks management on 3 August 2015 named his deputies in the first step. Péter N. Nagy, Péter Pető and Márton Gergely have been appointed deputy editors-in-chief of Népszabadság from 18 August 2015, while Ákos Tóth, former deputy editor-in-chief and multiple Népszabadság, Katalin Bossányi, Mihály Táncsics and Free Press award-winning journalist is leaving Népszabadság.

The former acting editor-in-chief Péter N. Nagy was appointed the number one deputy editor-in-chief of the daily. He has been working at Népszabadság for almost two decades; he has, among others, received the Pulitzer Prize and Mihály Táncsics Award for his excellent political and topical journalism and in-depth public affairs articles.

Péter Pető is a new member of the editorial. The 31-year-old journalist editor renowned for his strong and original articles, creative ideas, as well as in-depth articles on domestic politics and sports has so far been working as deputy editor of the domestic politics column. The young journalist has received numerous journalism awards, including the Junior Prima Award for Quality Journalism and the Gyula Németh Award.

Márton Gergely has been working as deputy editor-in-chief since October last year. Earlier on he worked as the editor of nol.hu and has consequently gathered ample experience in the digital and print media. He is an outstanding expert in foreign policy and has also received the Award for Quality Journalism.

András Murányi highlighted the following when he was appointed: „We will continue the renewal of Népszabadság at the beginning of September by consulting with the new editorial and editors. The foremost aim of this is for the daily to increase its influence in the media market by offering stronger and fresher content, yet by preserving its value and for Népszabadság Online to evolve into one of the most successful news sites.”
